The Foldinator Project



The Foldinator Origami Modeler and Document Generator is a software application under development by Zing Man Productions. The project is currently seeking funding to allow for the completion of the prototype and initial release version. If you or your organization awards grants to support research and development in the fields of new media arts, computer visualization or computational mathematics, please contact me. Also you are interested in collaborating on the development, or in becoming a tester when there is a publicly available Foldinator demo, or simply have comments, please contact me as well.

3 February 2004 - Foldinator project is currently seeking funding to allow for the completion of development.

9 September 2003 - I have completed diagrams for my Fivefold Rose using a development version of the Foldinator as part of the diagramming process.

Coming Soon! -- Demo 0.1   The first in series of prototype demos of the Foldinator Application. This version will feature a basic functional Object Model, Display and Animation Engine, and User Interface, with the ability to record and playback a sequence of operations on a piece of paper, including Flip and Rotate functions, and a limited number of simple (Mountain and Valley) Folds, sufficient to generate map folds and similar models.

Project Description: An explanation of the Foldinator, its goals, methods, design and development issues. Adapted from paper on the design of the Foldinator I presented at the 2001 3OSME conference, presented by Origami USA, this paper is included in the 3OSME Conference Proceedings.
